I’m sure there are many reasons why someone might want to go online to find out more about how to learn Spanish. However, for the sake of brevity, let’s narrow it down a bit. Here are the top 5 reasons to learn Spanish:

1. You’re taking Spanish class at school and want to be ahead of “the curve”. Smart move. Online Spanish lessons can reinforce what you’ve learned in class and provide tips that you might not be taught in school.

2. You’re planning to travel–or move–to a Spanish speaking country. Buen viaje! (have a nice trip). Get better deals while shopping, meet new people and be more confident in your ability to communicate with the locals–all this, if you learn Spanish before you go.

3. Your job or business requires you to learn to communicate in Spanish. If you work or run a business in the US, knowing how to speak and read Spanish would be a great asset to your company (or to your resumé). There are many Spanish speakers in the US work force. Also, think about the Spanish language newspapers, magazines, advertisements…you get the picture.

4. You’re actually a Spanish speaker but were raised in an English (or other) language country, such as the US, and you weren’t taught how to write Spanish. In this case, you want to improve your literacy skills; spelling, punctuation, when to use the accent mark, etc…

5. You want to learn Spanish just for fun. Don’t laugh. Self improvement is always a good idea. If you’re tired of the same old stuff on the radio, why not listen to some audio Spanish lessons while you drive?

If you don’t fit into one of the above categories, please leave a comment. I’m sure other readers are curious about your reason to learn Spanish. If you do fit into one (or more) of these categories, sign up for these free introductory online Spanish lessons–they’re educational and fun!
